KUCHING: The inclusion of five Sarawak MPs in the recent federal Cabinet reshuffle demonstrates the government’s continued commitment to ensuring balanced regional representation, particularly Sarawak’s role in the national development agenda.
According to Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee, the new appointments and portfolio changes among local representatives reflect an inclusive approach that involves various parties within the Unity Government.
“It is important to maintain political harmony, strengthen trust among coalition partners, and ensure policies are implemented more effectively at the grassroots level.
“The portfolio changes for experienced deputy ministers reflect the need to realign policy priorities and optimize existing expertise, in line with the country’s current challenges.
“At the same time, appointing new faces among young leaders is a strategic move to prepare the next generation of national leadership,” she said when contacted by Suara Sarawak, Sarawak Tribune’s sister paper.
She added that this not only opens space for fresh ideas and progressive thinking from the younger generation, but also demonstrates the Unity Government’s commitment to trusting youth as strategic partners in policy-making and national administration.
She also said that the reshuffle should be seen as an effort to strengthen public service delivery, accelerate the implementation of reforms, and ensure the continuity of the Unity Government policies based on justice, sustainability, and public welfare.
Harmony between federal and state leadership, particularly Sarawak, is crucial for successfully implementing an inclusive and balanced development agenda.
“I am confident that with a combination of experience, diverse political backgrounds, and the emergence of new leaders, the Unity Government Cabinet will remain stable, progressive, and focused on the interests of the people and the nation’s future.
“Overall, the cabinet reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim clearly reflects his leadership wisdom in strengthening political stability and reinforcing a functional, inclusive Unity Government,” she said.
