KUCHING: Sarawak’s Under-12 and Under-14 water polo teams are set to compete in the 2nd National Inter-Club Water Polo Championships – President Cup 2025, taking place at the Kedah State Aquatic Centre in Alor Setar from today (Aug 1) until to Aug 3.

However, for the young contingent, the experience is more about building confidence and gaining exposure than chasing medals.

“This competition is mainly for exposure. Most of our U12 players are first-timers. I hope they will enjoy the competition and be motivated to train harder after this,” said head coach Voon Yong Hui when contacted today (Aug 1).

Despite their newcomer status, the players — many making their national debut — have shown strong commitment throughout training.

Coach Voon emphasised that the trip marks a crucial step in grooming the next generation of Sarawak’s aquatic athletes.

Meanwhile, Power Aquatics Swimming Club (PASC), under which the players train, posted a spirited message on social media:

“Best of luck to our U12 and U14 water polo warriors! They are heading to the 2nd National Inter-Club Water Polo Championships – President Cup 2025 at Kedah State Aquatic Centre, Alor Setar, Kedah, from Aug 1 to 3. Go make us proud!”
