KUCHING: Sarawak’s strong policies, political stability, and high-quality human capital are drawing increasing interest from foreign investors.
Having said this, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof added countries such as Japan, China, France, Russia, and Norway have recognised Sarawak as a promising investment destination, with international attention steadily growing.
“When I travel abroad, such as during my recent visit to Osaka Expo 2025, Sarawak is attracting strong investor interest, especially from Japan and China who are eager to learn from our progress.
“Why? Firstly, because of our clear policies. Secondly, because we have a government that is business-friendly. Thirdly, our political stability and fourth, our people, Sarawakian are friendly, knowledgeable, English-speaking, hardworking, and committed.
“It is this quality of our people that not only attracts tourists but also draws investors to Sarawak,” he said.
He said this when officiating the 2025 Petra Jaya Parliamentary Level Perdana Kesenian & Kebudayaan Dayak ceremony at SDNU Hall, Siol Kandis, Petra Jaya on Satuday (July 12).
He added that Sarawak’s positive image extends beyond Asia, with countries like France and Russia also showing interest in the state’s development and keeping it in the global spotlight.
“Just recently, I attended the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held last week in Kuala Lumpur. The Foreign Minister of Norway was also invited to attend, as Norway is set to become a strategic partner of ASEAN.
“He told me that Sarawak is becoming a focal point for investment in Malaysia and I believe this is partly because our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg had previously visited Norway to study their Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) system, along with their financial systems and other innovations.
“So that’s what I wanted to share with all of you, that Sarawak’s future is incredibly bright,” he added.
Fadillah also emphasised that while Sarawak has strong policies in place, their success depends on continued unity and public support, especially in maintaining political stability.
“I am proud of the leadership shown by our Premier, but it will not succeed without the support of all of us.
“That spirit of unity must drive us forward to realise Sarawak’s vision.
“That is our goal by the year 2030. That’s why the theme “Sarawak Maju Makmur” (Progressive and Prosperous Sarawak) is a real hope we can turn into reality,” he said.
