KUCHING: Sarawak’s rising Muaythai star Texas Jeremy Lo has made history as the first Malaysian to secure a professional contract with the prestigious Rajadamnern World Series (RWS) in Bangkok, Thailand.

The young athlete says the offer validates years of hard work and sacrifices, fueling his determination to represent Malaysia on the world stage.

Texas’s journey to the professional ranks has been one marked by discipline, perseverance, and countless hours dedicated to training.

Securing a contract with RWS, one of Muaythai’s most respected organisations, is a milestone not only for Kuching-born Texas but also for Malaysian combat sports.

“Honestly, lost for words, I felt like the work I put in so far is paying itself off and it also motivated me to work even harder and smarter for my upcoming fights under the contract,” Texas told Sarawak Tribune when contacted over the phone today (Jan 27).

Behind the spotlight, Texas shared that maintaining this lifestyle requires significant sacrifices, especially when it comes to managing time and personal commitments.

“Time, time is a big one — from training, sleep, recovery. It’s basically a lifestyle. Diets can be especially tough to maintain during holidays and birthdays, but I view these sacrifices as investments in my future,” he explained.

With this contract, Texas feels a heightened sense of responsibility to carry the Malaysian flag with pride and elevate the country’s presence in the international Muaythai scene.

“I have always felt a responsibility to represent Malaysia well, but now it carries even more weight,” he added.

The Rajadamnern World Series is held at the legendary Rajadamnern Stadium in Bangkok, considered one of the sport’s most prestigious venues.

Texas also stands to benefit financially, with a reported bonus of 50,000 Baht awarded for winning a knockout fight recently.
