SRI AMAN: Sarikei finally got their Sarawak Premier League 2025 campaign up and running with a gritty 1-0 win over Sri Aman at the Sri Aman Sports Complex yesterday evening (Saturday).

The result earned head coach Safri Amit’s side three valuable points in their third match of the season.

Muhammad Nazman Nazib emerged as the hero for the ‘Pineapple Town’ squad, scoring the decisive goal in the 46th minute with a low strike from outside the penalty box.

It was Sarikei’s first win after three matches.

“I’m very happy with the victory achieved by the players in this match. Thank you to all the players for fulfilling our mission to secure a win,” said Safri when met by Sarawak Tribune after the match.

He admitted there was still much to improve in his team, particularly in several key positions, after assessing their performance over the full 90 minutes.

Commenting on his players’ overall display, Safri acknowledged that the starting eleven faced strong resistance from the home side.

“Fortunately, the players managed to overcome that pressure, which showed their growing maturity,” he added, noting that this year’s Sarikei squad is made up mostly of players under 20 years old.

Next up, Sarikei will host Samarahan in their home fixture on October 18.
