SARIKEI: Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii has continued his annual tradition of distributing Chinese New Year greeting cards as a gesture of appreciation and remembrance for the people in his constituency.
Huang said the practice, which he has maintained since becoming a wakil rakyat goes beyond a yearly routine and reflects his ongoing commitment to foster harmony and strengthen ties between leaders and the local community.
He said the initiative is part of his efforts to stay connected with the people while adding cheer to the festive celebration.
“This is also part of my effort to engage with the people and strengthen our relationship while enlivening the Chinese New Year celebration,” he said.
Huang said the initiative received an encouraging response from local residents, who appreciated the continuous efforts of their elected representative to engage with the community across all levels.
He pointed out that celebrations such as Chinese New Year are not only observed by the Chinese community, but also serve as a platform to nurture unity among Malaysians of different races.
“I hope that the spirit of goodwill and mutual respect that has been fostered over the years would continue to be strengthened for the collective well-being of the people,” he said.
Through his representative, Huang also took the opportunity to extend his Chinese New Year greetings to the Chinese community in Sarikei.
“I also hope that the new year will bring prosperity, good health and continued success to all residents in the Sarikei parliamentary constituency,” he said.
The distribution of greeting cards was carried out by his representative, Wong Soon Mee, and the Sarikei Parliamentary Service Centre team.
