SARIKEI: A sustained commitment to grassroots welfare continues to define the leadership of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Deputy Minister Datuk Sri Huang Tiong Sii, who remains closely engaged with vulnerable communities in Sarikei and Repok.

Also as Repok assemblyman, Huang consistently demonstrates concern for residents requiring assistance, particularly the elderly and those facing serious health challenges.

“Ensuring patients receive proper care at home is a shared responsibility and my office will continue responding promptly whenever families require urgent support,” said Huang in a press statement on Tuesday (Dec 16).

Most recently, welfare assistance was extended through the provision of essential medical equipment to two residents from longhouse communities within the Sarikei parliamentary constituency.

“A hospital bed was delivered to Juing Gira and Dicklas from Rumah Junis, Sungai Kelupu, aimed at improving comfort and facilitating daily medical care at home.

“In addition, a wheelchair was provided to Dicklas Adih of Rumah Kam Gaing, Sungai Mador Ili, to support his mobility needs and daily activities.”

Both forms of assistance were channelled through the Sarikei Parliamentary Service Centre, which acted swiftly upon receiving applications submitted by family members.

The service centre team personally delivered the equipment to recipients’ homes, ensuring timely support without delay despite logistical challenges in reaching rural areas.

During the delivery, officers also provided clear explanations and practical guidance on using the hospital bed safely and effectively for daily patient care.

“This hands-on approach aimed to ensure family caregivers could confidently manage the equipment while maintaining the patient’s comfort and dignity.

“The initiative significantly reduced the financial burden on affected families, who otherwise would have struggled to obtain costly medical equipment independently,” Huang said.
