KUCHING: Satok residents, especially senior citizens are grateful that Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS) registration counters have been set up for their convenience.

They said the initiative eased the registration process for the financial assistance, especially for expenses like groceries, phone bills, and utilities.

The residents noted that the assistance will benefit them greatly particularly due to the increasing prices of goods.

Sarawak Tribune learbt as much during the SKAS registration drive in Satok, held at Dewan Anak Seni Bandarsah and Satok Sports Complex on Saturday (Feb 8).

Held over two days (Feb 8-9), the programme aims to assist residents in registering for SarawakID and SPay Global, both of which are required to receive the assistance.

PATIMAH, 80
Satok

I learned about the programme registration from my village community and was accompanied by my child today. This registration process is very convenient, especially for senior citizens like me. In the past, I struggled to register, but with the counter set up here, the process has become much easier. I am also grateful to the state government for opening this registration counter, and I will use the assistance to purchase groceries.

RAKIAH MORSHIDI, 65
Satok

I learned about the SKAS and Sarawak SPay registration through WhatsApp. I am actually an appeal applicant, and the opening of this counter has been very helpful because online registration is slow and has system issues. With assistance, the process becomes much faster. Waiting for our turn is normal, so we just have to be patient. The aid I will receive through SPay is very meaningful, especially for purchasing essential items.

NORLIA, 55
Kampung No 4, Jalan Datuk Ajibah Abol

I found out about the counter opening through announcements from the village community. This registration programme is a great help because I’m not very tech-savvy and often get confused using apps on my phone. The assistance will go a long way in helping me cover daily expenses, like buying food.

ZAINAB, 57
Kampung No 4, Jalan Datuk Ajibah Abol

I learned about the counter opening from my neighbour in the village, so I came down to register. This counter has been a huge help because I’m not familiar with using the app. I feel reassured that my welfare as a senior citizen and a person with disabilities is taken care of with the assistance provided. This aid will help me cover expenses such as phone bills and utility bills.
