KUCHING: A total of RM1.3 million has been allocated for facility upgrades in Kampung No. 3, 4, 5, and 6 in Satok, as part of ongoing development efforts in the area.

Deputy Minister of Utility (Sarawak Energy & PETROS) Datuk Ibrahim Baki announced that the funds will be used to address the development needs of his constituency and further advance progress in the area.

“This is a contribution from the state’s revenues. The funds are reinvested into our communities through these projects,” said Ibrahim, who is also the Satok assemblyman, during Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri Zon 2 Satok at SK Merpati Jepang last night (Apr 20).

Key projects include the refurbishment of Dewan Datu Merpati Jepang in Kampung No. 4, with RM340,000 allocated for ceiling and roof repairs, following a pledge made by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof during his visit to the hall.

For Kampung No. 3, RM360,000 has been allocated to improve the village’s drainage system, while Kampung No. 5 will benefit from three separate projects, including a RM100,000 ramp for Sungai Lajim, an RM80,000 access road, and RM50,000 for upgrading the village’s drainage system.

Meanwhile in Kampung No. 6, RM150,000 has been allocated for drainage improvements, while RM120,000 will be used for road resurfacing.

The remaining RM100,000 will be reserved for other future development projects in the area, which will be further discussed with village leaders and local stakeholders.

“These projects are part of our efforts to improve local infrastructure and beautify the area. I will continue discussions with village leaders to ensure we meet the community’s needs,” Ibrahim stated.

During the event, he also thanked Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for his leadership, highlighting the Premier’s significant role in driving Sarawak’s development.

“When Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim visited us on Saturday, he commended the Premier and Sarawak’s leadership for exceeding his expectations.

“We no longer rely on federal allocations for development. Instead, we fund our projects through the state’s growing revenues,” Ibrahim said.
