KUCHING: The Satok constituency will see a slew of new major and minor projects being carried out, said Datuk Ibrahim Baki.
The Satok assemblyman revealed that the waterfront expansion project from Kampung Bintangor to Kampung Kudei Lama has been approved.
He said works are expected to commence by year-end with the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) and Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) as implementing agencies for the waterfront expansion project.
“Residents living along the riverbanks will be visited by representatives from these agencies in the coming months for discussions before the construction works begin,” he said.
He made these remarks when speaking during the PBB Satok Zone 3 Aidilfitri gathering at a hotel on Friday evening.
Ibrahim, who is Utility (Sarawak Energy and PETROS) Deputy Minister, also announced that RM1 million has been approved for the construction of a retaining wall in Kampung Kudei Baru to address the crocodile encroachment from a nearby river.
“My constituents have asked for an allocation as the ‘semandin’ (crocodiles) are often seen lurking under their homes, and the request was made since their area was not included in the waterfront project.
“The population of ‘Bujang Senang’ have increased in Kampung Kudei Baru, that is why I have approved RM1 million for the retaining wall,” he said.
At the same time, Ibrahim said a new surau is also in the pipelines for Kudei Baru Ulu which involves an allocation of RM1.7 million.
“The water pipes (in Kudei Baru Ulu) have also been upgraded to bigger pipes; the roads have been improved, and an arch has been erected.
“In terms of development, we will be busy as we are in the midst of implementing not only major projects but also minor projects as well,” he said.
