TOULOUSE, France: Malaysia’s aerospace ambitions soared to new heights as Satys Aircraft Painting, a global leader in aircraft painting and sealing, sealed a landmark joint venture with premier Malaysian aerospace engineering company, AIROD Sdn Bhd.

In a statement, it said that the agreement was formalised during a signing ceremony at the Courtyard Marriott here, witnessed by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Satys Chief Executive Officer, Christophe Cador, expressed pride in the strategic collaboration with AIROD.

He said that this strategic alliance is expected to significantly enhance aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in Malaysia, particularly in the field of aircraft exterior finishing and painting.

With Satys’ expertise in aerospace surface treatment and AIROD’s engineering excellence, he pointed out that the venture aims to support both military and commercial aviation markets across the Asia-Pacific region.

“This joint venture not only reflects our confidence in the Malaysian aerospace industry but also sets a new benchmark for MRO excellence in the region,” he said.

Meanwhile, AIROD Director, Datuk Firhad Uzir Rahim, hailed the partnership as a transformative milestone.

“Partnering with Satys will bring best-in-class technologies and services into our local ecosystem. This marks a pivotal moment for Malaysia’s aerospace ambitions, and is in line with the government’s drive to position the country as a regional hub,” he said.

The ceremony drew senior leaders and dignitaries from both companies, along with key representatives from the Sarawak State Government, underscoring the geopolitical and economic significance of international cooperation in aerospace development.

More than a commercial venture, the collaboration is expected to catalyse job creation, foster knowledge transfer, and enhance capacity building that supports Malaysia’s national aerospace blueprint, and strengthening Sarawak’s aspirations to emerge as a key player in the global aerospace arena.
