KUCHING: The Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) is organising its annual Biodiversity Day event to promote awareness of biodiversity and cultural heritage in Sarawak.
The event will take place on May 24 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at Kilometre 20, Jalan Borneo Heights, Semenggoh, with free admission.
Coinciding with the International Day for Biological Diversity, this year’s event adopts the theme ‘Harmony with Nature and Sustainable Development’ to raise awareness of biodiversity conservation through educational and cultural activities.
The day’s programme includes hands-on science games, demonstrations, guided tours of SBC’s ethno-botanical garden, jungle treks, and exhibitions from agencies such as the Sarawak Forestry Department, Agriculture Research Centre, and Wildlife Conservation Society.
Cultural elements will feature traditional music, sape performances, and storytelling by indigenous communities, reflecting Sarawak’s diverse heritage.
Sarawak’s Biodiversity Ambassador will also present a special artistic performance highlighting the significance of safeguarding Sarawak’s natural environment for future generations.
