KUCHING: The Sarawak Career and Training (SCaT) Fair 2026 continues to drive human capital development, recording 27,698 visitors and offering more than 1,900 job opportunities throughout its two-day run.
Deputy Chairman of the Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS) Board of Trustees, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, said the encouraging response proved that SCaT Fair is growing as a key platform connecting industry, educational institutions, and the community in Sarawak through a one-stop centre concept.
“Since its introduction in 2012, it has remained relevant to students, youths, parents and job seekers by bringing together education opportunities, skills training, financial aid for education, and employment prospects under one roof.
“This success is also the result of close collaboration across Sarawak’s talent development ecosystem, including PETROS through its Oil and Gas Zone, which not only exposed Sarawakians to career opportunities in the oil and gas industry but also opened doors when several candidates were directly offered employment in related fields.
“PERKESO also coordinated career exhibitions and open interview sessions with various employers,” he said at the SCaT Fair 2026 14th Edition Prize Presentation and Closing Ceremony at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre (HEEC) here today (June 7).
Dr Jerip, who is also Deputy Minister of Transport (Air and Road), further stressed that the success of SCaT Fair goes beyond visitor numbers, and is best measured through its impact on the people.

“More than 1,900 job opportunities were offered throughout the programme spanning sectors including construction, manufacturing, services, oil and gas, and technical industries.
“Besides job opportunities, visitors were also able to obtain information on scholarships, education pathways, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), skills development, and industrial training opportunities directly from educational institutions and relevant agencies.
“Programmes like this are vital in helping to improve the employability of youth and ensuring Sarawakians are better prepared to meet the demands of future industries,” he said.
He also advised the younger generation to keep pushing beyond their comfort zones and explore emerging fields such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), TVET, digital technology, automation and the creative industry, all of which are expanding rapidly in Sarawak.
Meanwhile, TEGAS Chief Executive Officer, Udin Bujang, said the organisation remains committed to strengthening its talent development initiatives and outreach programmes in line with SCaT Fair’s achievements.
“These efforts are to ensure more youth across Sarawak can access education, training and skills development opportunities more comprehensively.
“I would like to invite the public to visit the TEGAS Digital Village in Kuching, as well as participate in upcoming key initiatives including an artificial intelligence (AI)-related programme to be held soon.
“The ‘Projek Impian Direalisasikan’ (PRoDR) programme will also be carried out at 14 locations across Sarawak over the next two months, alongside the TEGAS Pre-Accelerator programme, details of which will be announced from time to time via social media,” he added.
For the record, SCaT Fair 2026 featured a wide range of activities including an education and study pathway expo, a STEM Playground, the Sarawak Minecraft Championship, Sarawak Rocketeer Challenge, and TVET Master Competition.
Other highlights included the TEGAS Entrepreneur Corner, the Sultan Iskandar Planetarium Dome, and the SCaT Kamboh stage, which brought together competitions, performances and community activities for visitors of all ages.
