KUCHING: The Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) ushered in a new chapter of leadership during its 74th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Wednesday (June 11).

The AGM marked a momentous leadership transition as Datuk Seri Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg officially stepped down as President after 32 years of dedicated service to the Chamber.

In recognition of his immense contributions, he was conferred the title of Honourary Life President of SCCI.

The meeting also saw the election of the SCCI Committee for the 2025–2027 term, with Datuk Philip Ting Ding Ing appointed as the new President.

Joining him in the leadership team are Albert Tang Yew Liong as Deputy President, Datuk Alex Ting Kuang Kuo as Honourary Secretary, and Anne Kung Soo Ching as Honourary Treasurer.

The Vice Presidents elected are Lawrence Law Siew Hie for Sibu, Datuk Andy Chia Chu Fatt for Miri, and Tan Sri Paul Koon Poh Keong for Bintulu.

The newly elected committee members include Professor Brian Wong Kee Mun, Dominic Chuo Kong Uh, Eric Tay Tze Kok, Fiona Marcus Raja, Hii Saan Chieng, Kok Li Ping @ Angie Kueh, Mok Venia, Nobel Pang Paul Gen, Paul Amin Satem, and Datuk Seri Ir Peter Lu Nguang Siong.

In his inaugural address, Philip Ting thanked members for their trust and support, while paying tribute to the legacy of his predecessor.

He pledged to strengthen SCCI’s role in advocating for Sarawak’s business community, drive economic resilience, and foster greater unity among its members.
