SARIKEI: A total of 888 school bags under the DSH 2025 programme were distributed to students in nine schools here.

The initiative was led by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, who is also member of parliament for Sarikei and state assemblyman for Repok, to support students and lessen the financial burden on families.

The distribution of the school bags was carried out by his service centre yesterday (May 4) represented by Kapitan Ling Sien Chuong and accompanied by Kapitan Law Pick Hung, Kapitan Ho Ke Lu, village chief Pitre Ambit, and committee members from the Sarikei Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) branch.

The nine schools that benefited from the initiative were SM Ming Lik, SJK Tiong Ho, SJK St Martin, SJK Chung Hien, SK Udin, SK Balong, SK Assun, SK Sungai Paoh, and SMK Sungai Paoh.

School representatives expressed their gratitude for the support, noting that the school bags would help encourage students in their studies and reduce the financial strain on their parents.
