MIRI: A roofing project at SK Merbau, implemented under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for the Senadin constituency, has been completed.

State Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin who recently visited the school to inspect the completed works, said the initiative involved constructing a covered walkway connecting the waiting area to the school hall, as well as a roof over the internal road crossing.

“The previous structure was damaged by strong winds. It has now been fully rebuilt at a cost of RM120,000, with works completed at the end of last year,” he said.

Lee who is senadin assemblyman noted that while the main works had been delivered, minor issues were identified later.

“After completion, we discovered some water pooling along the walkway. At the request of the headmaster and teaching staff, we will now install proper drainage to resolve this. The Public Works Department (PWD) will assist in drafting the necessary plans,” he explained.

In addition, Lee pointed out that the school’s multipurpose hall, constructed at a cost of RM250,000, was also funded under his RTP allocation.

“These projects reflect our continuous commitment to improving educational infrastructure and ensuring a safer, more comfortable environment for students and teachers,” he said.
