SERIAN: The Magistrate’s Court here fined a student management assistant RM9,000, in default 24 months in prison, for possessing 98 obscene materials believed to be child pornography.
Mohammad Azlan, 47, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Razali to two charges under Section 292 of the Penal Code.
Upon conviction, the offence carries a jail term of up to three years, a fine, or both.
According to the charges, he was found in possession of 98 obscene materials, comprising 49 pornographic videos and 49 pornographic images, stored in two phones.
He committed both offences when he was arrested and brought to the Serian Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Office at around 10:00 am on April 8.
Investigations found that both mobile phones belonging to Azlan contained the explicit materials in question.
On another note, Azlan was also charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code for molesting an 18-year-old disabled male teenager by groping and kissing his genitals.
The offence was committed in a special education class at a secondary school in Serian, at around 5:20 pm on February 20, 2025.
However, he pleaded not guilty and the court scheduled November 20 for re-mention date for case management.
Based on the case facts, on March 20, at around 8:30 pm in a village, the complainant – the victim’s father – was informed by his son that he had met the man to ask for cigarettes.
Upon arriving at the class, Azlan instructed the victim to take off both of their pants, and forced him to watch a pornographic video while holding his penis.
Later, Azlan tried to insert his penis into the victim’s anus but the teenager managed to push him away.
However, he attempted to lure the victim by giving him three more cigarettes as a gift.
The victim, with learning disabilities, ran away and informed his two friends about the incident.
After the teenager told his father about the incident, a police report was lodged for further action, which led to Azlan’s arrest on April 8.
Deputy Public Prosecutor, Chuah Kai Sheng, prosecuted, while Insp. Rizel Nante was the investigating officer.
Azlan was unrepresented by counsel.
