KUCHING, Sarawak: Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd’s (SCIB) wholly-owned subsidiary, SCIB Industrialised Building System Sdn Bhd (SIBS), has secured an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) subcontract worth RM24.59 million.
In a statement today, SCIB said the letter of award was issued by Belian Juta Sdn Bhd (BJSB) for the proposed reconstruction works of the dilapidated school building at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kaingaran in Tambunan, Sabah.
The company said under the subcontract, SIBS will undertake the execution, performance and completion of the reconstruction works, including the provision of all necessary materials, machinery, equipment, mechanical plants and labour required for the project.
“The project is scheduled to commence on August 10, 2026, and is expected to be completed by January 22, 2029, providing the group with earnings visibility over an execution period of approximately 29 months.
“The latest award further strengthens SCIB’s construction and EPCC project pipeline in Sabah while reinforcing the group’s established track record in delivering public sector education infrastructure projects,” it said.
SCIB’s non-independent non-executive Chairman, Datuk Chong Loong Men, said the latest contract reflects the continued confidence placed in SCIB’s project execution capabilities in Sabah’s public infrastructure sector.
He noted that education infrastructure plays a vital role in supporting community development, and the company is honoured to contribute to creating a safer and more conducive learning environment through the reconstruction of Sekolah Kebangsaan Kaingaran.
“Sabah continues to offer attractive opportunities, driven by ongoing investments in education, public infrastructure and community facilities.
“As we continue to strengthen our presence in East Malaysia, our focus remains on disciplined project selection, effective project execution and expanding our order book with quality projects that support sustainable earnings visibility,” he said.
The company said the contract is expected to contribute positively to SCIB’s future earnings over the tenure of the project, with revenue and profit recognised progressively in line with the progress of the works.
It added that the project will be funded through internally generated funds and/or project progress billings, enabling the group to align its funding requirements with project implementation. – BERNAMA
