KUCHING: A world-class scientific congress being held here is seen as an important milestone in advancing women healthcare through innovation, collaboration and surgical excellence.

The International Congress of Advanced MIS, Robotic and Ablation Society of Gynaecologists Malaysia (AMRAS) carrying the theme “Harvesting Wisdom, Cultivating Surgical Excellence,” began at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, on Saturday (June 6).

AMRAS president, Dr Sharifah Halimah Jaafar said the congress will reflect on their ongoing commitment to nurture both knowledge and skill, from foundational principles to advanced surgical mastery.

“The programme has been thoughtfully curated to empower surgeons at every stage of their journey.

“Ultimately, our goal is simple yet profound, to ensure that more women benefit from their wider option of advanced minimally invasive surgery delivered with precision, safety and excellence,” she said.

Head of Service of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G), Dr Rafaie Amin said the gathering of experts and young practitioners will showcase various medical innovations that assist women healthcare.

“This congress will showcase the forefront of our speciality from advanced laparoscopy and V-notes to robotics, endometriosis surgery, hysteroscopy and imaging technologies that continue to transform the way we care for women.

“Through initiatives such as AMRAS Cup, workshops, live discussions, surgical video sessions, we will be creating valuable opportunities for mentorship, skills development and personal growth, including a session on obstetrics Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS),” he said.

It will place a strong emphasis on education and the future generation of surgeons, he said, adding that experts and delegates from across Asia-Pacific will reflect on the importance of sharing knowledge and advancing medicine expertise.

Meanwhile, Prof Sun Jing, president of Asia Pacific Association for Gynecologic Endoscopy (APAGE) said their mission is to nurture young talents who bring new momentum to minimal gynaecological invasive medicine.

“Minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, and vibration therapy have become the co-driving forces of modern gynaecological medicine.

“They innovate clinical practise, improve the patient’s outcomes, and instill gynaecological surgery toward standardisation, precision, and intelligence worldwide,” she said.

APAGE also continues its efforts in promoting academic exchange, technology innovation, and youth talent cultivation across the Asia-Pacific region by integrating advanced minimally invasive skills, cutting-edge robotic applications, and innovative ablation techniques through the congress.
