SCOPE seminar on Jul 24 addresses implications of SST Expansion 2025

KUCHING: The Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence Sdn Bhd (SCOPE) will be organising a full-day seminar on July 24 to address the implications of the upcoming Sales and Service Tax (SST) Expansion 2025 for both the business community and public sector agencies.

Scheduled to be held at SCOPE Kuching from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the seminar is aimed at providing clarity and guidance on key updates, including newly taxable services, revised group relief provisions, and taxation of digital and government services.

Participants can expect in-depth sessions led by tax experts from the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and KPMG Malaysia’s Executive Director of Indirect Tax, Ng Sue Lynn.

Among the key topics to be discussed are overview of SST Expansion 2025, taxability of government services and digital platforms, group relief and intra-group transactions, registration and compliance strategies, and sector-specific impacts for Sarawak-based businesses.

“This seminar ensures stakeholders are not caught off guard.

“SCOPE is committed to equipping Sarawak’s business and government-linked entities with essential knowledge to navigate the evolving SST framework,” SCOPE said in its statement.

Industries expected to be most affected include professional and technical services, wholesale and retail, healthcare, hospitality, logistics, manufacturing, distribution, construction and education, many of which were previously exempted or partially covered under the current tax regime.

Registration for the seminar is open until July 21, with early registration encouraged due to limited seating.
