KUCHING: Members of Sarawak Community Policing Association unit at Taman Tiya Vista led by unit leader Jason Voon conducted a citizen community policing programme with the police from Kota Samarahan on Saturday night.

ASP Austin Patrick Angkon, who is also head of crime prevention and community safety department, Kota Samarahan Police headquarters, led the police team.

The team distributed crime prevention leaflets in the neighbourhood as well.

The leaflets featured how to prevent a house break-in; how to prevent robbery; how to prevent necklace and handbags being snatched; beware of pickpockets; how to avoid being harassed and how to prevent motorcycle from being stolen.

ASP Austin said he was glad to work with SCPA members and through such collaboration, it would build a safer and secure Kota Samarahan.

He hoped more citizens would join the community policing group, together with the police in fighting crimes.

Joining the patrol were SCPA chairman Datuk John Lau Pang Heng and executive committee member Peter Owen.
