KUCHING: The Sarawak Commercial Photographic Association (SCPA) is set to launch Sarawak’s first statewide Aerodance-driven community tour next year, promoting wellness, and fostering community engagement across four major cities and towns.
The ‘Sarawak Sunrise Aerodance 2026’ tour will kick off in Miri on April 19, followed by Bintulu on May 17, Sibu on June 7, and concluding in Kuching on July 5 next year.
SCPA’s President, Leong Jun Chin, said that the programme would encourage healthy lifestyles and promote Aerodance as an accessible fitness activity for all ages.
“This initiative aims to unite the community and make Aerodance enjoyable for everyone,” he said during a media conference at Kuching Community Social Support Centre (CSSC) here on Friday.
Leong also highlighted that the initiative supports fundraising for the 14th United Asia Professional Photography Association (UAPPA) AGM 2026 here.
“This is a unique opportunity for Sarawak. Photographers from across Asia will come to Kuching for the UAPPA convention to showcase the state’s beauty to an international audience,” he said.
To ensure high-quality sessions, SCPA has partnered with Busman Noor, a prominent figure in Sarawak’s aerobics and group fitness scene.
Busman explained that Aerodance combines aerobics and dance with music, making it suitable for participants of all ages.
“Unlike Zumba, Aerodance uses clear verbal instructions alongside the music so everyone can follow the steps.
“It’s flexible, fun and can even be adapted into chair dance routines for those who need it,” he said.
The tour will feature lively, music-driven workouts designed to introduce participants to Aerodance, a fusion of aerobics and dance that is suitable for all ages.
The initiative marks Sarawak’s largest Aerodance event to date and represents a unique opportunity for the community to come together in pursuit of health, wellness and social engagement.
Registration for the tour is now open in four categories, from RM15 to RM50, with options including event T-shirts, momentos or both.
Interested participants must register by March 31, 2026, at https://checkpointspot.asia/registration/sarawak-sunrise-aerodance26.
