KUCHING: The Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) buzzed with excitement and joy as the legendary disco group Boney M made a special visit.
Their visit to the SCV marked a unique fusion of music, culture, and tradition, as the group was warmly greeted with smiles and a heartfelt welcome upon arrival.
Boney M was warmly greeted with a traditional welcoming dance, accompanied by the mesmerising sounds of the sape which is a traditional Sarawakian instrument.
“They then savoured the Sarawak Ethnic Kitchen Premium Highlander lunch at Restaurant Budaya before embarking on a tour of our iconic ethnic houses, Baruk Bidayuh, Iban Longhouse, Penan Hut, and Orang Ulu Longhouse.
“At every stop, they embraced the spirit of Sarawak by trying out traditional dances, making the experience even more vibrant, rain or shine!,” it said in their Facebook post today (Jan 8).
Their energy and eagerness to embrace the spirit of Sarawak created a vibrant atmosphere.
“The day continued with a visit to the Budaya Theatre, where they watched our lively cultural show and even joined our dancers on stage for a fun-filled dance session, creating beautiful memories and snapping photos together,” it said.
The SCV extends a heartfelt thank you to Boney M for their incredible energy, enthusiasm, and genuine appreciation of Sarawak’s vibrant cultural heritage.
Their visit not only brought joy to the local community but also highlighted the global connection between music and culture.

Just days before, they performed their 50th Anniversary Tour concert at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on January 4.
