KUCHING: The annual Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) is ready to welcome festival goers from around the world from July 12 to 14.
This year, the location has been extended to include Damai Central where the ‘Mini What About Kuching (WAK x RWMF) will be held to create the teaser, hype and awareness for the upcoming WAK in October.
The three-day festival expects more than 24,000 festival goers, and to have enough comfort for everybody, much of the venue for the RWMF events are being expanded and improved.

Works are ongoing to upgrade, renovate and paint buildings and structures while more tents are being put up. “As of today, 90 percent of our preparations are ready, with just final touches and checks to be done,” the organisers said in a statement yesterday.
“We are committed to the green initiatives to reduce carbon footprint at the festival, so we encourage festival goers to take shuttle bus from the city centre to Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV).
“Our pick-up point is The Hills shopping mall while drop-off will be the Plaza Merdeka shopping mall. Price is RM15 (adult, per way) and RM10 (child, 7-12 years old, per way). Tickets can be purchased at our counter located at The Hills, Riverside Majestic Hotel, Harbour View Hotel and Plaza Merdeka shopping mall,” the statement added.
It says driving is allowed, but cars will have to be parked at Damai Golf Club junction (Santubong T-junction) and from there festival goers need to purchase ticket for a ride in the official van shuttle to get to SCV. Ticket prices are adult, RM7 one-way, and children (7-12 years old) RM4 one-way.
Festival goers are not allowed to bring bottled mineral water to the festival. Their drinking needs are taken care of by 20 water dispensing machines available throughout the festival ground.
But festival goers are recommended to bring their own bottle or tumbler for refills. Otherwise collapsible cups are sold at the festival venue.
