KUCHING: Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation will play a central role in integrating digital infrastructure and ensuring the upcoming Kota Petra Green Technology Park (KPGTP) is equipped with advanced digital solutions.
Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) Bhd’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Datuk Sudarnoto Osman, said the township, centred around a 3,000-acre facility powered by a 300MW solar farm, is set to be a transformative development in the region.
“By combining state-of-the-art infrastructure with advanced green technologies, the project positions itself as a model for sustainable, innovation-driven growth.
“Among its key advantages are strategic incentives and infrastructure strengths, including a 30-year solar power generation licence.
“This not only guarantees long-term sustainability but also significantly reduces energy costs for high-demand operations such as data centres,” he said.
He said this in his keynote address titled ‘The Role of AI in Shaping Sarawak’s Digital Transformation and Innovation’ during IBM IndustryAI Event 2025 held at a hotel here today.
The park also features a specialised hub specifically designed to accommodate multiple data centres, making it ideal for companies seeking scalable, secure and energy-efficient digital infrastructure.
“Additionally, its strategic proximity to five dedicated industrial development zones fosters strong synergies with Sarawak’s wider industrial ecosystem, enabling easier collaboration, resource sharing, and supply chain integration.
“Touted as one of Sarawak’s most ambitious ventures, the development will serve as a fertile ground for deploying AI-driven solutions across industries, including smart manufacturing, energy, logistics, agriculture and digital services.
“We invite all of you to explore this exceptional investment opportunity and to be part of a bold new chapter in Sarawak’s journey towards becoming a digitally empowered and innovation-led economy,” he said.
