KUCHING: The Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak have entered a strategic partnership aimed at empowering human capital development, particularly among graduates and underserved communities.
The collaboration aligns with the vision of both organisations to implement impactful joint initiatives this year and beyond.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to shaping a more competitive and future-ready generation, while also supporting communities in need,” said SDGA President Ts. Rizzo Mungka.
“We believe that by combining SDGA’s grassroots engagement with UiTM Sarawak’s academic resources, we can build a stronger talent ecosystem for Sarawak,”he said.
At a meeting between the SDGA executive committee, led by Ts Rizzo Mungka, and UiTM Sarawak Rector Professor Dr Firdaus Abdullah, several key areas of collaboration were outlined to support student success and community upliftment.
“One of the main focus areas is entrepreneurship development. The partnership seeks to nurture more entrepreneurial-minded graduates to support the national agenda of strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem among young talents,”he said.
SDGA and UiTM Sarawak are also exploring industry collaboration efforts, including initiatives to inspire support for STEM and entrepreneurship programs.
“The collaboration further includes joint efforts to improve students’ English proficiency and essential soft skills such as interview techniques and resume writing, along with joint research and consultancy activities that address community needs and capacity building,” he said.
Another important component of the partnership is the promotion of executive programmes.
Both parties will work together to raise awareness on short courses and professional certifications, encouraging a culture of lifelong learning and continuous professional development using innovative, human-centred approaches.
In addition, to assist underserved communities, SDGA will help identify candidates experiencing financial or accommodation challenges so they can pursue pre-diploma programmes offered by UiTM Sarawak.
“To improve career development outcomes, a joint platform will be developed using SDGA and UiTM Sarawak databases to enhance graduate career readiness and improve employability. The partnership also includes efforts to strengthen internship placement opportunities by connecting UiTM Sarawak students with industry stakeholders, ensuring more meaningful and relevant hands-on experiences,”he added.
This partnership is a significant step in preparing graduates to meet the evolving demands of the job market, while also uplifting the community.
It demonstrates a shared commitment to nurturing a resilient and competitive talent pool for Sarawak.
