KUCHING: Flood victims who need help to clean up their houses have been urged to contact the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) secretariat or Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the initiative is one of the efforts to ease the burden of flood victims.

“For those who need help with cleaning and other tasks, they can contact the secretariat or PBB, especially in their area.

“Our team has prepared volunteers, particularly youth from PBB, to assist in cleaning houses,” he said to reporters at the Temporary Relief Centre (PPS) at Dewan Haji Kamaruddin, Kampung Segedup, last night.

According to him, the flood situation in Sarawak has begun to improve.

However, he said rescue operations are still ongoing, along with the distribution of food aid and essential supplies to flood victims.

“Thankfully, the situation is gradually improving. The high tide has begun to recede, and heavy rainfall has lessened. We pray that there will be no further floods.

“I would also like to thank all personnel involved, especially from government agencies, enforcement bodies, departments, and NGOs,” he added.
