SIBU: The Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Sibu Branch will launch a series of initiatives in January 2026 to empower the Dayak community and strengthen the organisation’s social and economic impact.
Its chairman and SDNU senior vice-president, Chambai Lindong, said the initiatives reflect the branch’s ongoing commitment to empowering members and the community through social and economic development programmes.
“We will continue to strengthen the organisation for the benefit of our members and the wider community, with details to be announced in January 2026,” he said, after officiating the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) recently.
The SDNU Sibu Branch successfully held its AGM 2026 at SDNU Sibu House, Taman Bougenvilla, with 141 members in attendance.
In his opening speech, Chambai highlighted the importance of unity and cooperation among members to ensure the organisation remains strong and continues progressing in the right direction.
Coinciding with the AGM, the SDNU Sibu Economic Development Bureau organised an engagement session with the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Sibu Branch specifically for members.
Larryson Aing Jack, EPF Sibu Relationship Officer, delivered a briefing titled ‘EPF and You’, assisted by Emellia Andrew and Evenjelina Belundi.
Also present at the AGM were Samuel Sila Mathew Unjah, SDNU Central Supreme Council member and SDNU Sibu secretary; Johnady Janton, vice-chairman of SDNU Sibu; and Sammy Dennis, chairman of the EPF engagement programme.
