BANGKOK: A four-pin margin separated Malaysia from a place in the final as the national women’s bowling team settled for bronze at the SEA Games.

The national pairing of Adania Mohd Redzwan and Nur Hazirah Ramli began their campaign at Blu-o Rhythm & Bowl Ratchayothin on Wednesday with a convincing performance before facing a stern test in the semi-finals.

They posted a combined total of 428 pins but were edged out by Singapore B, who recorded 432 pins.

The narrow defeat confirmed the bronze medal for Malaysia, still contributing to the national contingent’s overall medal tally at the biennial Games.

In the final, Singapore B – represented by Arianne Tay and Charmaine Chang Yu Qian – produced a consistent display to clinch the gold medal after defeating Indonesia B, 379 pins to 353.

Indonesia B were represented by Alisha Nabila Larasati and Putty Insavilla Armein, while the other bronze medal was claimed by Indonesia A, featuring Sharon Adelina Limansantoso and Aldila Indryati.

Nur Hazirah, who hails from Kuching, Sarawak, next competes in the women’s team-of-four event today, teaming up with Natasha Mohamed Roslan, Adania Mohd Redzwan and Sin Li Jane.
