KUCHING: Sarawak Energy (SEB) has reaffirmed its leadership in workplace safety and health after receiving 23 awards during the 43rd Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH) Awards 2025 at Putrajaya International Convention Centre on Nov 13.
Sarawak Energy Group chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili said the recognition
demonstrates the organisation’s collective commitment to ensuring that every employee,
contractor and partner works in a safe environment.
“Safety is our top priority and an integral part of how we operate. It goes beyond compliance
and reflects our responsibility to protect our people, our partners and the communities we serve.

“These recognitions reaffirm the dedication of our teams across SEB in upholding our HSSE values,” he said in SEB statement issued today (Nov 19).
He added that the company continues to strengthen its safety culture through proactive risk management, technology integration and capability building initiatives.
“We continue to innovate through safety tools, predictive analytics and knowledge sharing
programmes to improve awareness and accountability at every level,” he added.
The annual awards, themed ‘Celebrating Achievements, Inspiring the Future’, recognise organisations that demonstrate consistent and effective implementation of occupational
safety and health (OSH) management systems.
Among this year’s major highlights, the Murum Hydroelectric Plant received the Grand Award, which was accepted on behalf of SEB by Murum HEP station manager Annevella Matthew.

These awards recognise exemplary occupational safety and health practices, proactive risk management, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
Several other SEB facilities received Gold Merit, Gold Class I and Gold Class II awards, reflecting the consistent application of OSH standards across generation, transmission and distribution operations throughout Sarawak.
Over the past year, SEB has introduced several initiatives aimed at enhancing operational safety and employee well-being, including digital incident reporting systems, safety leadership programmes and joint community OSH campaigns.
These efforts have contributed to a consistent reduction in workplace incidents and strengthened compliance with international standards such as ISO 45001.
The 43rd MSOSH Awards ceremony was officiated by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr
Dzulkefly Ahmad and attended by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar; Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Dr Zulkifli Hasan and other senior government officials.
