A wave of rapid development is sweeping through Sebuyau District, encompassing the creation of a new township, an administrative complex, 235 affordable housing units, and 214 shop lots.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg shared that these initiatives are set to transform the landscape of Sebuyau.

“Sebuyau has been elevated from sub-district to district, therefore, we will establish a district council consisting of a number of councillors. And with that, we will also upgrade our services to the rakyat through digital services between related departments.

“As part of this progress, Sebuyau will witness the construction of a new administrative complex within the new township, as well as a new clinic and school.

“Additionally, the state government will undertake the construction of 235 affordable housing units, offering housing loans through the Mutiara mortgage scheme. The state will also cover the RM10,000 deposit for B40 home buyers,” he announced.

These developments were revealed during his speech at the inauguration ceremony of Masjid Al-Muflihin here on today (Aug 18).

The Premier also unveiled the name of the new mosque. He clarified that the name was recommended by the Sarawak Islamic Council, explaining that “Al-Muflihin” translates to “successful individuals”, and he expressed his hope that the people of Sebuyau would continue to thrive.

The new mosque replaces the old one which was damaged due to a landslide in 2009. Situated on a 17-acre plot of land, the mosque can accommodate 1,000 people in its main prayer hall and an additional 1,200 in the foyer area.

Among the dignitaries present at the ceremony were Sarawak Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Julaihi Narawi; State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Sarawak Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication (Utility), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi; Sarawak Islamic Council president Datuk Misnu Taha; and Samarahan Resident, Irwan Bahari Bujang.
