KOTA SAMARAHAN: Police arrested a shopping mall security guard for allegedly taking part in a gang robbery at a grocery store along Jalan Datuk Mohd Musa, where a 45-year-old local man was slashed and RM400 in cash stolen.
The incident happened at around 7.50 pm last night (May 12) when the owner was approached by four men claiming they wanted to buy goods while closing the store.
Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Damataries Lautin said the victim informed them the store was closed, but one of the suspects pulled out a weapon believed to be a meat cleaver.
“A struggle broke out when the victim pushed the suspect away. Two others then joined in and slashed his head.

“The fourth suspect entered the store and took RM400 from a sales tin behind the counter before all of them fled the scene,” he said in a statement.
The victim was treated at the Kota Samarahan Heart Centre and received six stitches to his head and three to his left arm.
His wife, who was present during the incident, was unharmed.
Later that night, at around 10.20 pm, police launched ‘Op Kesan’ and tracked one of the suspects to the bushes near Desa Jamai residential area.
Damataries added that the 31-year-old suspect resisted arrest and acted aggressively, prompting police to use minimal force to subdue him.
“He suffered injuries to his eyebrows and elbow. A Yamaha Y15zr motorcycle reported stolen in Satok and a Redmi smartphone, were seized,” he said.
Background checks revealed the suspect had seven prior records related to drugs, theft and robbery offenses.
“During interrogation, the suspect admitted to being involved in the robbery, claiming it was planned by a man known as ‘Baby’, though he denied stabbing the victim,” he said.
Efforts are now underway to locate the remaining three suspects.
The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery.
