MIRI: The police here have detained a 50-year-old security guard on suspicion of involvement in a violent assault reported in the district earlier this week.

The man was arrested on October 30 during a coordinated operation led by the Crime Prevention Division and the Criminal Investigation Department.

Officers moved in at 1:00 pm in the Piasau Jaya area, and several items believed to have been used in the attack were seized at the scene.

The suspect has been remanded to assist investigations under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries penalties for causing injury with a weapon or dangerous object.

Police, in urging calm, advised members of the public not to take matters into their own hands.

They stressed that disputes should be referred to the authorities rather than resolved through force or personal retaliation.
