KUCHING: The Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) continues to strengthen community welfare and human capital development through targeted corporate social responsibility initiatives supporting education and social well-being.

The corporation charted another step in its community outreach efforts with the handover of food essentials to Maahad Tahfiz Raudhatul Jannah (RAUDHAH), benefiting 20 students from the religious educational institution.

The ceremony was officiated by SEDC acting general manager Rakayah Hamdan.

“As a state development agency, SEDC believes that economic growth must go hand in hand with social well-being, human capital development and the strengthening of community values,” she said.

She highlighted that religious education plays a vital role in nurturing ethical, principled and resilient individuals, qualities essential for Sarawak’s long-term social and economic sustainability.

She said that the initiative reflects SEDC’s aspiration to contribute to Sarawak’s holistic prosperity, aligned with the vision of “Prospering Sarawak Today for Tomorrow.”

The handover ceremony was attended by members of SEDC’s management, educators and students of RAUDHAH, symbolising collaboration between development institutions and community-based educational centres.

The contribution of food essentials is expected to ease daily operational costs, support students’ nutritional needs and help ensure the institution’s continued sustainability.

SEDC emphasised that consistent assistance is crucial in enabling educational institutions to focus on nurturing students without undue financial strain.

“This initiative forms part of SEDC Sarawak’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts to address community needs through sustained, practical and impactful support programmes.

Earlier, on Dec 17, SEDC carried out a similar CSR initiative at the Datuk Ajibah Abol Children’s Home in Sri Aman.

“That programme involved the contribution of essential equipment and supplies aimed at creating a safer, more comfortable and conducive environment for children under the home’s care,” she said.

SEDC said these continuous initiatives reflect its commitment to inclusive community development with a focus on long-term, tangible benefits for society.
