MIRI: The construction of a covered multipurpose hall at Sekolah Agama Rakyat Miri under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2024 has reached 40 per cent completion, reflecting positive progress on the ground.

Piasau state assemblyman, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, said the project is being implemented smoothly with an allocation of RM150,000, and is expected to be completed within the six-month construction period from October 29, 2025, to April 29, 2026.

He said the project will bring direct benefits to the school and its students, particularly in terms of improved basic facilities, safety and comfort.

“I appreciate the commitment and cooperation shown by all parties involved, and I am satisfied with the progress achieved so far. We hope favourable weather conditions will continue to ensure the project is completed according to schedule,” he said during a site visit today.

The visit was also attended by officers from the Public Works Department, representatives of the appointed contractor and the school headmaster to assess the progress of the works.

The multipurpose hall project is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance educational facilities in rural areas, in line with initiatives to strengthen school infrastructure and uplift the well-being of local communities.

Also present was Pemanca Leonard Fong as well as councillors, Lisa Yu and Tan Lek Jin, who expressed their support for the smooth implementation of RTP projects in the Piasau constituency.
