OPAR: Construction of the long-awaited Selampit Bridge has officially begun, promising to enhance connectivity for residents in the area.
Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang assured villagers that a new perahu tambang (river taxi) service has been made available to facilitate crossings over the Selampit River while the bridge is under construction.
“A second boat will arrive in April,” he announced during the corporate social responsibility (CSR) Zone 2 Bokah Programme held recently in Kampung Selampit, Lundu.

Acknowledging minor delays in the project, Billy urged the community to remain patient as the government works to implement its development plans.
During the event, he also announced an allocation of RM150,000 for drainage extension works leading to the Selampit River, further improving infrastructure in the area.
He also allocated RM10,000 to the Kampung Selampit Bahá’í Association to support the upcoming Naw-Rúz Night celebration, which will be observed at the end of March at the Kampung Selampit Hall.
