TATAU: Selangau MP Edwin Banta continued his efforts to assist flood victims by visiting the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) at SMK Tatau yesterday.

During the visit, he met with 197 flood victims, who remain housed at the centre, inspected the PPS facilities, and listened to the concerns and needs of those affected.

Also present was Tatau District officer Calvin Ligong Endawie, who is also the Tatau District Disaster Management Committee chairman.

He provided updates on the management of flood victims and the ongoing operations at SMK Tatau PPS.

Edwin assured that his team would continue monitoring the flood situation and pledged to provide additional assistance if necessary.

Earlier, he had donated essential supplies, including rubber mats, water tanks and drinking water, to several PPS centres in the Selangau parliamentary constituency, such as PPS Dewan Multipurpose Sekuau, Dewan Multipurpose Selangau, SJKC Tong Ah Selangau and SK Bukit Arip.

As of Feb 10, all PPS centres in Selangau District have been closed, with the last one, Sekuau Multipurpose Hall PPS, officially shutting down at 12 noon.

However, SMK Tatau PPS remains open for victims who are still unable to return home.
