KOTA SENTOSA:  Residents of Lorong Semaba 7 here can now look forward to better drainage and flood prevention following the completion of a RM250,000 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) infrastructure project championed by Kota Sentosa Assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Yau Sin.

Accompanied by officers from the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), Yap visited the site today to inspect the newly-completed concrete drainage system situated at the T-junction of Lorong Semaba 7.

The project addresses persistent waterlogging and flooding issues that have affected the area for years, marking a significant step forward in infrastructure upgrades for the constituency.

“This is more than just a drainage upgrade. It is a commitment to ensure that every part of Kota Sentosa is not left behind in terms of infrastructure.

“Too many of our older residential areas still suffer from outdated or insufficient basic amenities. I am working tirelessly to correct that,” he said.

During the visit, MPP officers also conducted survey and assessment works on two nearby areas – the opposite side of the same T-junction and an earth drain along Jalan Semaba at Lorong Semaba 11.

Both locations are being considered for the next phase of RTP 2026 upgrades, with plans for new concrete drainage systems estimated to cost a combined RM400,000.

MPP engineers are currently preparing the Bill of Quantities to enable implementation.

Yap emphasised his ongoing commitment to ensuring equitable development across the constituency.

“Development cannot be concentrated in one area. As your elected representative, I will continue to prioritise improvements – street by street, lorong by lorong – so that all residents of Kota Sentosa enjoy the benefits of proper, modern infrastructure,” he added.

The site visit was part of Yap’s regular ground engagement schedule, a hallmark of his grassroots-focused leadership.

His work aligns with the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government’s emphasis on inclusive and balanced development, particularly in semi-urban and suburban zones.

“Infrastructure is not just about roads and drains,” Yap added.

“It’s about dignity, safety, and improving the quality of life for the people I serve.

“I will not rest until every kampung, taman and lorong in Kota Sentosa sees tangible progress,” he reiterated.
