KUCHING: A seminar is being held to empower backyard farming among the community with agro-tourism in mind.
The networking and sharing of ideas is aimed at the possibility of developing the backyards into tourist spots, said Datuk Hii Chang Kee
According to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, the conference also seeks ways to engage the handicapped and special needs communities in economic activity.
“For the seminar I think the intention is to help build the capability, skills, knowledge of those with special needs, which is a very noble initiative.
“By creating an accessible, attractive and agro tourism backyard, it will enable visitors to participate in its evolution, hence providing education and tranquil value,” he said.
Hii stated this at the opening ceremony of the seminar at the Waterfront Hotel Kuching, which was organised by Persatuan OKU Kuching – House of Joy in partnership with Business Events Sarawak.
