MIRI: The DUN Senadin Mobile Service 2U Team, led by Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, continued its weekly grassroots engagement today with a special community outreach session at Morsjaya’s popular coffee shops, this time with a meaningful twist in celebration of Father’s Day.
The team, comprising local councillors, Kapitans and community leaders from SUPP Senadin, engaged directly with residents to listen to their concerns, gather feedback, and provide assistance on the ground.
Among those present were Cr Toh Kah Shiong, Cr Datuk Victor Lau Sie Nguong, Cr Hiung Chien Yi, Kapitan Jee Kee Hiong, Kapitan Chong Ah Muk, Kapitan Chong Khee Fah, Jeffery Phang Siaw Foong, and Kueh Chie Tiong, who is Chairman of the SUPP Riam Sub-Branch and Deputy Chairman of SUPP Senadin.
This week’s outreach session coincided with Father’s Day, adding a heartfelt dimension to the community initiative.
As a gesture of appreciation, Lee and his team distributed specially prepared cupcakes to fathers in the Morsjaya area, recognising their steadfast dedication, quiet sacrifices, and crucial role in nurturing families and communities.
“Fathers are the pillars of many families: strong, supportive, and selfless,” said Lee.
“Today, we honour all fathers and father figures in Senadin and beyond. Wishing all of them a very Blessed Father’s Day.”
Residents welcomed the visit, which offered them the chance to raise matters directly with their local representatives.
Conversations with stall owners and coffee shop patrons touched on a range of issues, including infrastructure maintenance, neighbourhood safety, and the delivery of municipal services.
Councillors present assured that the feedback gathered would be compiled and forwarded to Miri City Council for appropriate action.
The Mobile Service 2U initiative has been a hallmark of Lee’s approach to community service in Senadin, aiming to bridge the gap between elected representatives and everyday constituents by taking assistance directly to the people’s doorstep or in this case, their morning coffee tables.
This week’s outreach not only addressed local concerns but also strengthened the personal ties that bind community leaders to their constituents, all while paying tribute to the often unsung heroes of family life, fathers.
With a smile, a cupcake, and an open ear, the team reaffirmed its commitment to responsive service, timely action, and heartfelt engagement.
The Mobile Service 2U programme continues weekly at various locations across the Senadin constituency.
