MIRI: Residents of Senadin took the opportunity to raise pressing local concerns directly with their elected representative during a Mobile Service2U outreach session held this morning at Mosjaya New Food Court and surrounding coffee shops here.
The walkabout was led by Transport Minister and Senadin state assemblyman, Datik Seri Lee Kim Shin, who was accompanied by members of the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Senadin branch main committee, Women and Youth wings, as well as community leaders, including Kapitan Jee Kee Hiong, Kapitan Chong Kee Fah and Councillor William Sim.
The informal meet-the-people session drew steady engagement, with residents highlighting issues ranging from conditions at Miri Hospital to flash floods, pothole-riddled roads and clogged drainage systems.
One resident specifically appealed for street lighting to be installed at a junction in her housing estate, citing safety concerns.
Lee listened to feedback on the ground, engaging residents in direct discussions while extending New Year 2026 greetings.
The team also distributed the Senadin Constituency Service Centre 2026 calendars, which were well received by the public.
“We are committed to bringing services directly to the people,” Lee said, stressing that all feedback gathered during the session would be channelled to the relevant agencies for follow-up action.
“This is about closing the gap between the community and the authorities. Issues raised today will not be left hanging,” he added.
Beyond airing grievances, many residents welcomed the chance to meet their assemblyman face to face, with some stopping for photographs and brief exchanges during the walkabout.
The Mobile Service2U programme is part of the Senadin Constituency Service Centre’s ongoing effort to deepen community engagement by meeting residents where they live, work and gather, allowing concerns to be captured firsthand and addressed more efficiently.
