KUCHING: A total of 55,194 welfare assistance cases involving RM25.3 million were recorded statewide as of February 2026, including aid for over 22,000 senior citizens.
Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, said 22,355 recipients received Senior Citizen Assistance of RM600 each, with RM13.41 million disbursed across Sarawak as of February 2026.
She said the Sarawak Government also continues to support older persons through the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC), implemented in collaboration with 1,180 strategic partners comprising private companies and commercial centres statewide.
“As of February 2026, a total of 374,566 Kenyalang Gold Cards have been distributed, including activated digital cards,” she said at the ‘Senior Citizens – We Care for You’ programme at Dewan Serbaguna Taman Sukma today.
Fatimah added that the card also includes the Bereavement Compassionate Assistance (BIK), which provides RM1,800 to the next of kin of deceased cardholders to help cover funeral expenses.
“From 2020 to February 2026, a total of 29,641 recipients have received BIK, involving expenditure of RM77,774,200,” she said.
Meanwhile, she said the Senior Citizen Health Benefit (SCHB) assists households with monthly incomes of RM7,000 and below by providing cashless outpatient treatment of up to RM500 per person annually.
“Across Sarawak, 224 healthcare institutions are registered as panel providers under SCHB, benefiting 221,225 active recipients,” she said.
