BINTULU: Senior citizens in Sarawak, particularly in the Tanjong Batu constituency, are encouraged to apply for the Sarawak Senior Citizens Health Benefit Scheme (SCHB) to enjoy cashless outpatient treatment at selected panel clinics.
Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming said the scheme was an initiative by the Sarawak Government to safeguard the welfare and wellbeing of senior citizens, especially those from low-income households.
“I urge all eligible senior citizens in the Tanjong Batu area to register for this scheme without delay.
“With an annual coverage of up to RM500, it can help ease the burden of daily basic treatment costs,” he said.
He made these remarks during a food basket distribution programme held in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha. The event., rganised by the Tanjong Batu Service Centre in collaboration with the Bintulu Adventure and Recreation Club, took place at the Village Hall of Kampung Assyakirin Phase 3 yesterday (Monday).
According to Pang, the scheme is open to Malaysian citizens with ‘K’ status aged 60 and above, with a household income of RM7,000 and below per month, and who are not receiving outpatient treatment assistance from any other agency.
He added that registration could be done online via the official SCHB portal or physically through the SUPP Mobile Services2U registration counters, which would operate from time to time in areas around Tanjong Batu.
Pang also expressed the commitment of the Tanjong Batu Service Centre in assisting with the application process.
“We are ready to help any senior citizen who needs assistance with registration. Please visit our office or contact us for further information,” he said.
