SARIKEI: More than 100 senior citizens here gathered in high spirits for the 2025 Elderly Day Programme, embracing the occasion with enthusiasm and positivity.

Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Deputy Minister, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, described the turnout and energy as both encouraging and inspiring.

The Sarikei Member of Parliament commended the senior citizens for continuing to play a meaningful role in society, adding that their dedication sets a strong example for others.

“Today’s participants remind us that staying active and involved is possible at any age,” he said at the programme’s closing ceremony on today.

Organised by the Sarikei Senior Citizen Association, the event featured a variety of activities designed to encourage active lifestyles and community engagement among the elderly, with strong support from local volunteers and agencies.

Huang, who is also Repok Assemblyman, announced a RM10,000 contribution to support the association’s ongoing efforts and annual community programmes.
