Serian API climbs to 199 at noon

KUCHING: Air quality in Serian worsened further today (Aug 24), with the Air Pollutant Index (API) climbing to 199 as of 12 pm.

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), the reading at IPD Serian was the highest recorded in Sarawak and just one point below the very unhealthy level.

Kuching recorded an API reading of 179, followed by Samarahan (173), Sri Aman (158) and Bintulu (137), all at unhealthy levels.

Meanwhile, Mukah stood at 100, just below the unhealthy threshold.

Other areas remained at moderate levels, namely Miri (87), Samalaju (87), ILP Miri (85), Sibu (84), Sarikei (81), Kapit (78) and Limbang (71).

API readings of between 101 and 200 are classified as unhealthy, while readings of between 201 and 300 are very unhealthy.
