SERIAN: Serian FA striker, Paul Sambang, praised his teammates for securing the win today but insisted the team is capable of far more after a match he felt “should have produced more goals”.
Fresh off his hat-trick performance against Sri Aman FA at Stadium MD Siburan, Paul admitted that the 3-0 scoreline did not reflect the control Serian had throughout the match.

“We didn’t play at full capacity today, but the team worked hard. The important thing is we got the full three points. It has always been our plan. We want to win every match, no matter the score,” he told Sarawak Tribune today.
Paul felt that Serian created enough opportunities to widen the victory margin.
“We should have scored more than three goals. There were so many chances – not just from me,” he said.
“The first half alone could have been 4 or 5-0, and in the second half we could have added two or three more.”
He added that factors such as pitch conditions may have contributed to the wastefulness in front of goal.
“Maybe it was the condition of the pitch. maybe it was a bit soft. We know we can perform better than this,” he said, adding that Serian FA can “produce better finishing” in future matches.
Despite the missed chances, Paul expressed gratitude for the team’s discipline and consistency.
“I’m thankful to the team because every match, the target is to win. That’s the most important thing.” he added.
Although he scored a hat-trick, Paul admitted he was pushing for more goals to stay ahead in the Premier League golden boot race.
“The hat-trick was okay, but honestly, I wanted more. I’m chasing goals to avoid ending the season tied with other top scorers. But today’s luck was only three,” he said.
