SERIAN: The Serian District Welfare Department (JKM) is finalising the list of flood victims in Bukit Semuja to ensure that financial aid reaches those who truly need it, says Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus.
He assured that eligible household heads (KIR) will receive a one-off cash aid of RM1,000, as announced by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
Fadillah had earlier stated that the aid is part of the federal government’s commitment to easing the burden of flood victims.
During a symbolic handover of flood relief assistance today (Mar 25), John said the government is committed to ensuring the aid reaches those in need.
As part of immediate support, 74 families affected by the floods in late January also received mattresses and pillows to help ease their recovery.
The aid was distributed across three key locations — 31 families from Kampung Sorak Melayu Hulu, previously housed at the PPS in SK Pengkalan Sorak; 18 families in Kampung Tebakang Dayak; and 25 families in Kampung Tebakang Melayu.
This assistance is part of ongoing efforts to reduce the burden of flood victims and help them rebuild their lives post-disaster.
