BAU: Motocross here has the potential to attract racers from West Kalimantan and West Malaysia in the future, says Goldtown Motorsport Club President, Jom Pis.

He said the club is setting its sights on turning Serikin into a regional motocross hub, expressing hopes of drawing riders from West Malaysia and neighbouring West Kalimantan in future editions of the Serikin Track Day.

At the second edition of the event held at the Serikin Bau Motocross Circuit today, Jom told the Sarawak Tribune that the club was encouraged by strong participation from Sibu, Miri and Bintulu, and now aims to grow the event further.

“So far, our event is quite okay – there’s been a lot of participation. For the time being, we’re having a fun race. This is the second time we’re organising it under Goldtown Motorsport,” he said.

He noted that while the current venue has basic facilities, there is room for improvement moving forward.

“For now, we have some facilities, but we need more. Hopefully, for the third edition, we’ll see better improvements,” he said.

Jom also thanked Deputy Minister of Transport and Tasik Biru Assemblyman, Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, for supporting the event, noting that the RM20,000 allocation helped make the race possible.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity given to all participants and the support to make this happen,” he added.

The event began today and will conclude tomorrow (Sunday, July 20).
