KUCHING: The Sustainable Palm Oil Forum (SPOF) 2026 will bring industry players together to address key risks, policy shifts and new opportunities shaping the sector.

Organised by the Sarawak Palm Oil Owners Association (SOPPOA), the two-day forum will be held on August 19 and 20 at the Imperial Hotel in Bintulu.

The event will gather stakeholders across the value chain — from plantation companies and millers to refiners, traders, financiers and technology providers — as the industry pushes to strengthen sustainability practices and long-term resilience.

SOPPOA chairman Datuk Joseph Blandoi said the forum comes at a critical time as sustainability expectations continue to evolve.

“The palm oil industry has made significant progress, but stronger collaboration is needed to ensure sustainable practices are implemented effectively while remaining competitive,” he said yesterday.

He said SPOF 2026 will focus on translating policies into practical strategies, helping companies navigate compliance demands and sustainability risks.

“Sustainability is no longer just about compliance. It is also about unlocking new opportunities and staying relevant in global markets,” he added.

The forum is also aligned with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030, aimed at supporting long-term sustainable growth.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate the event.

An exhibition will run alongside the forum, showcasing technologies and solutions supporting sustainable operations.

Participation is open to both local and international stakeholders, and the programme is HRDCorp claimable. For details and registration, visit www.soppoa.org.my or scan the QR code in the registration materials.
