KUCHING: Sarawak will be sending seven participants consisting of a male and female Qari and Qariah, as well as five Quran memorisation participants, for the National Quran Recitation and Memorisation Competition 1445H/2024M.
President of the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS), Datuk Misnu Taha, stated that the event will be held in Kuantan, Pahang from May 23 to 28.
He made these remarks during a press conference in conjunction with the Sarawak state delegation’s courtesy visit to the National Quran Recitation and Memorisation Competition here today.
“The state government will establish a new building for the Darul Hana Quran Development Centre in Kuching.
“This centre is not only limited to Muslims, but open to the public for those who want to learn about the Quran,” he said.
Misnu said the centre would begin operating next year in the current Baitulmal building, which is currently undergoing renovations, before moving to the new building.
He added that through this centre, Sarawak would become part of the World Quran Development Centre network, connecting with similar centres in other countries.
